Hunter and Jenna’s Surprise Proposal a Garden of the Gods Photoshoot
Hunter reached out to me to ask if we could shoot his surprise proposal at Garden of the Gods, and of course my answer was HELL YES! I am absolutely obsessed with Garden of the Gods. It is one of the most magical places in all of Colorado. Sunrise and sunset are incredible – so I always suggest schedule your photoshoot at one or the other. The golden light that hits the red rocks is something out of a movie!
Hunter and Jenna came all the way from Texas so Hunter could propose. It was Jenna’s first time to Colorado so you know we had to impress! I’m pretty sure this is a day she’ll never forget! We met up at sunrise and did some warm-up photos before Hunter popped the big question! Once he proposed it was smooth sailing from there. I think Hunter and I were both really anxious leading up to the proposal haha. We spent the rest of our time exploring the park together and of course getting some banger photos.
Quick Tips for Your Garden of the Gods Photoshoot
Planning a Garden of the Gods photoshoot? Here are a few helpful tips to make the most of your experience:
Arrive early or late in the day: Sunrise and sunset offer the most flattering light and fewer crowds. Golden hour also highlights the red rock formations beautifully.
Plan for parking: Popular pull-offs and scenic spots fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Arrive with extra time to find parking near your desired location.
Wear comfortable shoes: Even for short walks, many areas involve uneven terrain or gravel paths. You can always change your shoes once you reach the spot.
Check the weather: Conditions can change quickly, and wind can be common. Bring layers to stay comfortable during your Garden of the Gods photoshoot.
Avoid midday sessions: Harsh sun and deep shadows can make photos tricky. If midday is your only option, find shaded areas or use rock formations to diffuse the light.
Be mindful of other visitors: This is a public park, so patience and courtesy go a long way when waiting for the perfect backdrop.
Bring water and sunscreen: Even a short session under the Colorado sun can leave you dehydrated or sunburned—come prepared!
